Dark Moon in Libra 2016

The Dark Moon in Libra connects us to our personal ethics. Our beliefs are reflected in how we perceive the enactment of justice in the world. Libra is symbolized by scales, suggesting balance. But balance does not necessarily mean remaining even-keeled or emotionally flat when working with the concept of justice. Balance is, rather, about stepping back seeing the bigger picture. It’s recognizing how short-term action can effect long-term change.

Most of us will agree that there seems to be an overwhelming abundance of injustice occurring in the world. But we are also seeing an even greater number of people coming together, standing against these injustices. When we honour our personal ethics, when we fight for social justice in our communities and abroad, the heart and mind, working together, can transform the world.

Honouring Personal Ethics

Reflect on the different situations of social injustice that make a significant impact on you.

Try to not get too caught up in the emotional aspects, as this tends to leave us feeling too overwhelmed to act effectively. To be in balance means uniting the heart and mind in order to act, realistically, from a place of compassion. As much as we would love to drastically alter all the perceived injustices occurring on the planet, we must be pragmatic.

Focus on one particular issue and think about what you, as one person, can do to make the situation better. You may want to consider keeping it close to home, choosing a situation which affects your community, or one which impacts you personally.

Write down a list of all the different ways you can change the situation. Include the outlandish and ridiculous, there are no bad ideas. When you are done, go through your list and select 1-2 which are doable, which you are able and willing to commit to. Then do them. Change can only occur once we change ourselves first.
